"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you."

Jeremiah 29:11-12

A masterpiece of oil on canvas is plotted

              - A Haiku by Katie Chichester Mester -

As an oil painter, I use both brush and palette knife to refabricate notable scenes of domestic life and landscapes. My passionate style of natural realism portrays my subjects with correctness in structure and placement but vivacity in exciting color, intense light, and heavy texture. Respectably, I must be clear; my oil paintings are simply imitations of God’s perfect creation.

Being gifted with a natural drawing ability allowed me to easily recreate and represent images that were most intriguing to me at an early age. These images were greatly influenced by my love for home; growing up on a farm in rural Michigan, I was immersed in a life of pastoral scenes of cattle, sheep, and beautiful countryside. This artistic beginning is still reflected in my artwork today. In earning my degree at Central Michigan University, I studied the works of the 17th Century Dutch and Flemish painters. Their masterpieces of tranquil landscapes and domesticated life provided great inspiration for technique and composition in the development of my skill with my correlating roots for subject matter.

I now work from my home studio in Clare, MI as a professional oil painter. With consistent efforts, I continue to grow in both my skill and concept.  I enjoy my precious family, my home, and the endless supply of artistic subjects by which I am surrounded. All glory to God the Father.
